>> Your First Visit
Effectively treating your pain and helping you meet your wellness goals is our commitment to you. In order to help you reach your goals, your initial appointment at Dr. LaVictoire's
will consist of a consultation, an examination, and an assessment report along with a suggested treatment schedule.
Prior Paperwork Before your scheduled appointment you have the option to complete a standard health history form online that will ensure Dr. LaVictoire factors in all of the outlying causes for your condition. Darlene, our friendly receptionist is happy to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have during this process.
Consultation Once you complete your paperwork, you will meet with your doctor regarding your current condition and your future wellness goals. The more information our office has about your previous and present health conditions, the more efficient the prognosis and treatment. The patients' complaint should be classified by the date of onset. If complaint occurred within 4 weeks of seeking treatment the complaint is considered acute. For conditions lasting more than 4 weeks or with one or more recurrences of the same symptoms produced by the same cause the complaint will be considered chronic. Knowledge of our patients' health histories and goals enables us to create tailored solutions that will put them on the path to recovery.
Examination After your consultation, Dr. LaVictoire will perform a complete chiropractic examination which often times includes checking your reflexes, testing your range of motion as well as other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural and physical examinations. Our chiropractic assistant(s), will be intrically involved in ones exam and care. If necessary, Dr. LaVictoire may x-ray in order to get a thorough evaluation of your condition. Typically people who enter our office with symptoms on one side of their spine more than the other (or where examination proves this unilateral dominance) are chiropractic candidates.
Assessment Report Once the examination is complete, Dr. LaVictoire will discuss the recommended steps to take in an effort to reach your health goals. The assessment report will not only clarify your treatment suggestions and costs, but will also help you determine whether or not chiropractic services are right for you. If Dr. LaVictoire determines that the patient needs are beyond scope of chiropractic care, the patient will be referred to the appropriate category of provider.
Treatment With your consent, Dr. LaVictoire will often times end your initial appointment with your first treatment which may include spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy and/or physical therapy. The frequency of treatments will gradually decline until the patient reaches the point of discharge or converts to supportive or elective care. Our ultimate goal is to quickly restore motion, improve strength, function and of course reduce pain. Please note treatment limitations imposed by insurance policies or managed care can't relieve a physician of his duty to deliver standard acceptable care. Darlene will be able to address your finicial concerns.
Our office fosters a healthy, interactive patient/doctor relationship. Active patient participation in the treatment plan is essential to success, however if the patient fails to comply with treatment recommendations we may refer or discharge patient. We encourage you to voice any questions or concerns you may have with your suggested treatment schedule so that we can ensure you have a pleasant chiropractic experience.
